A blast occurred late last night at Thakurdwara Temple in Khandwala, Amritsar, after two bike-borne individuals lobbed a suspicious object, believed to be an explosive, towards the temple. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the suspects on a motorcycle, and CCTV footage captured the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and police were quick to respond.
Amritsar Commissioner GPS Bhullar has suggested that Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, may be involved in the incident, claiming that the agency is luring Punjab’s youth to create disturbances. “We received information at 2 a.m., and the team immediately arrived at the scene. After reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to locals, we suspect that ISI is behind these efforts to incite unrest in Punjab,” Bhullar stated.
The commissioner expressed confidence that the case would be resolved swiftly, urging youth not to jeopardize their futures. “We will catch the culprits soon,” he said, reassuring the public that action would be taken.
Punjab Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal confirmed that the police have gained control of the situation, stating that there were no casualties from the grenade attack. He also mentioned that two suspects have been identified, and police are working to apprehend them within a day.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also addressed the situation, noting that elements trying to disturb the peace in the state are always active. “Attempts to show Punjab as a disturbed state continue through drugs, gangsters, and extortion,” Mann said, emphasizing that the law and order situation in the state remains strong despite such challenges.
The blast follows an earlier attack on Friday at the Golden Temple, where five people were injured after an assailant attacked them with an iron rod at the Shri Guru Ramdas Sarai.
